Now, more than ever: OUR GARDEN NEEDS YOU!
Kick starter update
(Apologies for ‘tagging’ this post with so many terms – just trying to capture as big an audience as possible. No shame when it comes to repairing / creating productive gardens!)
Please donate if you can
I think these are my favorite flowers. .. Hope my ‘Red’ cuttings make it this time 🙂
The Orange and Pink ones both have buds- hopefully flower soon and bring some bees to the east side!
A few pics to show how well the East Side strip is progressing!

I knocked before I trimmed!
This is the deepest red Chinese lantern that ive ever seen.
It was planted in the front garden of a doctor’s office on Moreland Rd.
Unfortunately, we have had massive storms in Melbourne over the last few days, and more are predicted tonight.
I thought it was prudent to trim this abutilon before the storm hit.
Ive planted over 30 soft wood cuttings from the trim.
Surely one will grow!
I find it so weird that neither Mum or I can keep a red one alive. We both grow other colors with ease!
I found an awesome Red Chinese Lantern Tree growing in roadside garden
Mum struggles to propagate the Red ones so im hoping these will take off so we can share
Here they are all planted out. Used my own propagation mix, mostly cow poo and compost.
hope they work out.
Mum makes awesome ‘twisted plants’ she takes 3 or 4 different colours of these and plaits them into a standard… like this one https://www.jparkers.co.uk/plant-0001292/abutilon-tricolour-p12/
I’m determined to beat her, and create a 5 colour variety!
